i do quite enjoy the process of being obsessed with an idea, unable to get it out with futile attempts over and over, i have that while making my art. i enjoy that aspect of the story, what it represents, but looking at the movie at face value its really annoying. i love slow paced films, i love older films, but this one really really dragged on the same note over and over. just so much yelling, SO MUCH YELLING, there was a point i yelled out at the kid and had to pause the movie because i just could not stand hearing him yell “WHERE ARE WE GOING? WHERE ARE WE GOING? WHERE ARE WE GOING? WHERE ARE WE GOING? DAD NEEDS HELP. DAD NEEDS HELP. DAD NEEDS HELP.”, good birth control movie. also, you live in wyoming and you dont know what the devils tower looks like? ive never been there and i could immediately tell what it was. if the aliens are nice then why did they take the kid so violently from his mother?
the ending is really good, again viewing it as this metaphor for the creation of art, very nice. it almost makes up for the kids yelling over and over and over.
